Craniosacral Therapy

Gentle Non-intrusive Touch.

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, non-intrusive form of bodywork that addresses the bones of the head, spinal column, cerebral spinal fluid, and sacrum. The therapy supports your body’s innate ability to heal. The goal is to release compression in these areas, alleviating stress and pain caused by dysfunction, both acute and chronic. In my practice, I use soft touches to evaluate the rhythmic flow of the cerebrospinal fluid pulsing through the central nervous system, helping to restore the natural position of the bones, decrease stress and compression from chronic or acute injuries as well as provide relief from migraine headaches, concussions, back pain, and more. Craniosacral work can alleviate the symptoms of temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), grinding and clenching issues, and related pain. Overall, it is used to enhance the body’s natural healing processes and improve the functioning of the central nervous system. In infants, I’ve used craniosacral therapy to help with breastfeeding, digestive, and other birth trauma issues.

I work with adults, infants, and children.

Somatic Integration

For those dealing with conditions like anxiety, depression, chronic pain, or other emotional or physical challenges, craniosacral therapy offers a significant avenue for recovery. This non-invasive, safe therapy can be applied as a standalone treatment or alongside other somatic therapies, enabling you to release trapped emotional and physical distress, thereby leading a more content and vibrant life. Somatic integration often incorporates a variety of methods, such as heightened body awareness, dynamic movement, controlled breathing, tactile engagement, and guided imagery. I have found that integrating craniosacral therapy with these methods can amplify their impact, fostering deeper therapeutic outcomes.

  • Mary Jo has a serene zen space that relaxes me before we even start the treatments. I have made strides in my health working with Mary Jo. She is so knowledgeable about the body and spot on with massage and craniosacral treatments. And she is a lovely person! I feel lucky to work with her.
