Visceral Listening & Touch

Restoring Balance & Optimal Function

Visceral Listening & Touch, also known as Visceral Manipulation, is a subtle yet profound therapy that enhances organ and muscle function by releasing them both fascially and neurologically. It addresses the critical yet often overlooked role that organs, blood vessels, and nerves play in maintaining our body's internal structure. Influences like infections, surgeries, traumas (e.g., car accidents, sports injuries. whiplash or falls), and chronic postural issues can disrupt organ movement. This therapeutic approach aims to correct mechanical strains, restoring the organs to a state of balance and optimal function.

To achieve optimal results, I combine visceral manipulation with Somatic Experiencing and other healing modalities so that clients can experience deeper emotional and physical relief, allowing for a more holistic recovery process.

I work with adults, infants, and children.

  • Mary Jo has a serene zen space that relaxes me before we even start the treatments. I have made strides in my health working with Mary Jo. She is so knowledgeable about the body and spot on with massage and craniosacral treatments. And she is a lovely person! I feel lucky to work with her.

  • Mary Jo is always in the moment and with her massage and craniosacral work she connects with my energy and knows what will be the best approach to helping iron out the tension in my BEING not just my body.

  • I use both the CranioSacral and massage therapy and have been going to Mary Jo Ahern for the last thirty plus years. I have never had a disappointing session with her.

Somatic Integration

I have found that integrating Visceral Listening & Touch methods with Somatic Experiencing can amplify impact, fostering deeper therapeutic outcomes. For those dealing with conditions like anxiety, depression, chronic pain, or other emotional or physical challenges, craniosacral therapy offers a significant avenue for recovery. This non-invasive, safe therapy can be applied as a standalone treatment or alongside other somatic therapies, enabling you to release trapped emotional and physical distress, thereby leading a more content and vibrant life. Somatic integration often incorporates a variety of methods, such as heightened body awareness, dynamic movement, controlled breathing, tactile engagement, and guided imagery.
